What a trustee is
A trustee, or local-presence service, is a company in the target country that becomes the registered holder of the domain while you hold a contract with them for its use. It satisfies the registry's eligibility rule without you setting up a local business.
The trade-off is that the registry sees the trustee as the right-holder, not you, so your ability to move or keep the domain depends on that contract. The explainers here work through what that means registry by registry.
